Need Ideas for Hilarious Yet Office-Friendly Award Categories for Friday Fun

diyamondal
Hi all, as a part of the fun activities organized every Friday, I have thought of a funny awards show. Please help me out with some funny categories, which should be humorous but not too outrageous.

Thanks.

Funny Award Categories

1. Award for the employee who marks copies to the maximum number of unwanted/unrelated persons while sending emails.

2. Award for the staff member who shouts the loudest while talking on the office phone.

Give the guys a bundle of sarees and ask them to fold it neatly. Whoever folds the maximum number of sarees can be awarded... it will be fun.

Another idea perhaps... For employees who have worked for 15+ years, those (males at least) who have developed a mustache.

Well...

Divide the crowd into two groups - Group 1 and Group 2. Go to each group and ask them to write 10 questions that start with "Why" and 10 statements that start with "Because." Once the groups have completed the task, read the first "Why" question from Group 1 and the "Because" answer from Group 2, and continue in this manner. This activity will be fun as neither group will be aware of the outcomes of the instructions given.

Tell the individual to write down his weaknesses and shortcomings. Then, ask him to write the shortcomings of his co-partners, colleagues, or subordinates. It can be a funny exercise.

Some additions to Vaishali's ideas:

1. The most frequently absent person from his/her seat.
2. The most popular person.
3. Two people always found together during lunch/tea time.

Hope you will like it.

Dear Diyamondal,

Good to see that you have received many suggestions! But I have a doubt here - going by the ideas posted by a few fellow members - the awards might dampen the spirit and the objective (i.e., of having fun). You can never be sure how the other person will respond to it! Things that are fun for us might hurt the other. Also, these kinds of awards are just based on perception - for example, it might be your perception that this individual is always on the phone (how are you going to quantify it? Won't the person get offended)... You need carefree employees to enjoy this. According to me, even if this works, it might work with young employees, not older or senior ones. I would recommend giving away such awards only when you have a complete understanding of the mindset of all employees.

Rather choose activities that are recreational/fun-filled like having themed days such as Red Day based on colors, appreciation week, or decorating one's cubicle with the least used items, etc. You can find many more ideas on this site itself.

I think it should be a little more wacky. Employees should be asked to do some crazy things like: fancy dress competition with funny and wacky costumes, and a lot more things.

1. Mask making competition - ask to create funny masks.
2. Sense of humor competition - employees who make the other employees laugh the most.
3. Also, play some comedy movies for employee entertainment.
4. Last but not least, a mimicry competition - imitating favorite comedians. Also, name the award show a little more wacky, like the HAHA Awards.

Could you please list down the kind of activities you have already conducted? I am looking for some fun activities. Kindly suggest some.

Thanks,
Neha
