I would like to know if we have contract employees providing consulting services, what type of ID cards can be created. Would it be appropriate to have cards created only with numbers and without their photo?
I have noticed that in some companies, contract employees carry separate cards that are labeled only as "CONTRACT" along with a serial number, usually in a different color.

In my previous company, we implemented a system with different color codes. The contractor's name should be mentioned at the top of the card if you have multiple contractors. Having a separate color code for contract employees, visitors, and employees will be helpful for easy identification.
If you have regular contract staff working for a long duration (months), you may request the contractor to issue an ID card that can be worn with a "Contractor" badge provided by you.
If the contract staff will be rotated, it is advisable to have a badge formatted as follows:
Contractor
(XYZ Contractor)
Badge No. 1234
Color coding is also an option.
Cheers,
Niranjan
