Dear Friends,

The information in the attachments is good and informative. The OHSAS 18001 was revised in 2007 as OHSAS 18001:2007. There have been some emphasis and terminology changes, but generally, the main contents remain intact.

Dear Sir,

With regard to OHSAS 18001:2007, I would like to add some more information. In 1996, the ISO 14001:1996 was released, which was so simple and user-friendly that organizations started showing interest in this standard.

In the same year, in England, the BS 8800:1996 was released for Occupational health and safety management system. In 1999, the OHSAS 18001:1999 was released as ISO had not approved the OHSAS standard.

About 13 certification bodies joined together and released the OHSAS 18001:1999 based on BS 8800:1996, but it took the structure of the ISO 14001:1996. The British Standards Institute published this standard, but please note it is not a BSI standard. If you compare the ISO 14001:1996 with OHSAS 18001:1999 and ISO 14001:2004 with OHSAS 18001:2007, you can find that there is no difference in the structure of the system.

There is a guidance standard, OHSAS 18001:2008, which explains the standard.

But one day will come when we may get one standard for Quality, environment, and Safety & Health management system, as one cannot separate all these.

Dear Srinivasan,

There already exists a combination of these standards known as an Integrated Management System. We have already implemented this system since 2009 and audited the same. Just sharing info.

Dear neeraj4all, Dear Sir,

Thank you for your kind response. As OHSAS is not an ISO standard, even when organizations implement an Integrated Management System, we will be receiving separate certificates based on the requirements of the individual standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001. What I meant is that one single standard incorporating quality, environment, and health and safety will come soon. As of now, until ISO accepts or introduces a new standard for health and safety, this is not possible. Given the positive response to OHSAS 18001, the day will come when ISO will consider one standard for all quality, environment, and health and safety, which will be much more helpful for organizations.

In this context, it is worth noting that OHSAS 18001 has received good responses not only globally but also in India, even though B.I.S has introduced a similar standard called IS 18001.

Dear All,

We are in the process of implementing IMS (Integrated Management System). I want to address aspects, impacts, and hazards/risks related to abnormal human behavior. Can anyone please guide?

Thanks,
Minrah
dipil
Dear Minrah,

I hope that for implementing the IMS, you might have hired a consultancy. Ask them for samples from which you can easily create the required document. Alternatively, you can simply post the draft you prepared for comments from the forum members.

Thank you.
neeraj4all
Dear Minrah,

I apologize, but I never received your post. From what I understand, you are looking for information on AIRR. Please find the attached documents. There are several linked worksheets included. Begin with the first worksheet and work your way through to the last one. This should give you a good understanding.

We have an online system in place. If you need any further assistance, please feel free to contact me.

Regards,
Neeraj

Dear sir,

Please tell me how many mandatory procedures are in ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.

After many months, I was browsing for some documentation on OHSAS, and I am thankful to my friends in Cite HR who have posted them years back.

Dear Raghunathan & Friends,

I would like to suggest checking for ISO 45001:2018 now instead of OHSAS 18001 for OHSMS. OHSAS 18001 is currently being replaced by ISO 45001:2018. We have already transitioned from OHSAS and obtained certification for ISO 45001 last year.

Thank you.
