How Can We Make Smile and Greet Day Fun and Engaging for Everyone at Work?

Brijesh Kottari
Dear All,

We are planning to have a smile and greet day in our organization, so we need to conduct various activities during that week. Could anyone suggest some good and creative activities for that week? We, the HR team, aim to motivate our employees and ensure their happiness at work.

We celebrate each employee's birthday, but we want to conduct something special in that week.

Hi, Brijesh,

For the Smile and Great Day event, you can consider the following creative activities:

1) Ad-made show: Provide participants with a product and ask them to create a jingle or advertisement for it within 5 minutes.
2) Organize group activities to enhance team spirit.
3) One Minute Only: Challenge participants to speak on a random topic given to them.
4) Day's Celebration: Divide your employees into teams and have them wear attire representing different cultures.

Hi Brijesh,

First, let me congratulate you on this great idea 'smile & greet' day. It's a good way to institutionalize the practice of smiling and greeting. Here are a few ideas you can think of to publicize this idea during the week:

1. Put up posters with some corporate jokes (take care they do not offend anyone or any position in particular).

2. Place some blank chart papers on the walls with markers hanging by the side, inviting people to make humorous comments and share their feedback on the idea itself, ideas for popularizing this concept, etc.

3. Distribute pocket cards with some inspiring quotes featuring the 'sign & greet' signature. The same can be done at the canteen or lunchrooms with tent cards on tables.

4. Organize competitions with a 'fun & greet' focus. For instance, 'greedy greeter' for the one who has greeted the most, hilarious greeter, humble greeter, gregarious greeter, etc.

I have just thrown out some ideas off the top of my head; probably at least one or two could be practicable in your context.

Hi Bharath & Reeyuvi,

Thank you so much for the ideas. Yes, Bharath, some of the ideas you had suggested we have already planned. We are giving badges to all the employees in the organization. Additionally, we have planned for a talk by a psychologist, showing a funny documentary, poster competition, skit, etc.

Hello Brijesh,

We have some social responsibility, so my suggestions are:
- Give away some books and sweets to the school children.
- Go to an orphanage, distribute fruits and sweets, and spend some time with them.
- Visit an old age home and do the same.

Seeing the smile on their faces is worth so much.
