Overlapping Job Dates: Will It Affect My Background Check for Future Jobs?

askques1984
Hi,

There is a day overlapping in my first company's relieving date and second company's joining date. The relieving date at the first company and the joining date at the second company are the same. Will this pose any legal issues or create a negative mark on my background check for my next company? I am planning to change companies now.

Please advise me.

Thanks,
Ravi

How could it be possible? Your relieving date means you are present in that company, and at the same time, you are present in another company. How has the new company where you joined not raised any objections?

My old company was on a day shift, and the new company is on a night shift. That's why the overlapping has occurred. Will this be a serious issue in my new company (as I am going to join another company)?

This is not possible. Your relieving date means you are present in that company, and at the same time, you are present in another company. Please change the relieving or joining date.

It may not be a concern now, but it could be when you join another company and they discover this dual employment. It is better to have your joining date extended by a day or so. Just discuss this with your HR team and communicate the same to them kindly.

Dear askques1984,

It may seem strange, but it is perfectly logical and true! You were relieved at the end of the day shift in your previous organization and have now joined the night shift in the new one. Please do not change what is true. Let others learn about things beyond what they are familiar with, beyond the confines of "Not Invented Here," providing them with some food for thought and an exercise for the under-utilized brain.

Warm regards.
