Dear Deepthi,
Group Mediclaim policy is taken for a employee with 2/3 dependents(father/mother/spouse/kids).Mostly we have insurance broking companies who help the HR ppl to get Grp Mediclaim Policy.Ck out w.r.t that in ur home town.Everyone is covered under the grp mediclaim policy. There is no age limitation.Coverage in the policy depends on the value and the insurance guys.Incase u r in chennai i can suggest u the third parties who are involved with these type of activities.W.R.T other stations im sorry i dont know.

Group mediclaim policy can be taken for employees or floater policy for including family members...premium depends on sum insured and age of the member...no need to call broking agents...u can directly call the company and ask them to explain all the features of the policy...some companies offer to accept pre existing illnesses too some dont....negotiate with the insurance co...instead of PSU I would suggest to call private insurance co who give lower quote, better service and claim settlement is faster..Public sector insurance co like oriental/new india/national are not known for their prompt service

Dear friend,

As mrs. Deshmukh told, PSU's like UNITED INDIA ASSURANCE OR ORIENTAL INSURANCE companies may not be prompt in service, but certainly don't charge you more than private companies. But PLEASE REMEMBER PSU's SETTLE 99% OF MEDICLAIM , WHEREAS PRIVATE COMPANIES CANNOT BOAST OF SUCH CLAIM SETTLEMENT.

Does it make any sense to have good service at the time of taking out mediclaim policy but get your claim repudiated, when it actually comes to the real part of service?

Moreover, group mediclaim does not involve individual assessment of health risk but is dependant upon the group size , the age distribution of the group, occupational or other hazards commonly experienced by the group and so on.so larger the group, the premium to be paid will substantially be lesser. Also remember,PSU's do not charge premium to make huge profits out of their policies but they charge only to the extent of meeting out probable mediclaim that may arise. But private insurance companies are business units meant for profit making. so just beware.

Another thing, you need not pay any commission to the brokers/ agent. he is paid by the insurance company.
