Inquiry About Spittoons as per the Fact Act of 1948

Please, where are the readily available spittoons required as per the Fact Act of 1948, and what type of spittoons are needed in our factory?

Thank you.

When the whole world is talking about world-class manufacturing techniques, the provision of spittoons is not given importance during statutory audits. We all wish that such provisions can be removed over the next few years by the appropriate authorities.

In fact, in many companies, chewing of bubble gum, chicklets, pan, tobacco, and smoking is banned inside the company premises.

Gujarat High Court Order on Factory Welfare and Health Systems

As per the Gujarat High Court order, every factory must have an improved welfare and health system on the premises. This includes facilities such as spittoons, bathrooms, toilets, canteens, Occupational Health Centre (OHC), and first aid facilities, as per the Factories Act of 1948. Therefore, the factory inspector insists on compliance with these requirements.

Presumably, spittoons are only required by people who chew paan, etc. (which is bad in itself), so I don't know why this requirement would exist. Can sinks in bathrooms be considered spittoons? A spittoon is basically a place you can spit into, so why cannot a sink qualify to be this?
