Choosing Between MPM and PGDBM for HR: Which Path Would You Recommend and Why?

Hi friends,

I'm really confused and I can't decide which course to take up - an MPM or a PGDBM course that will help me in the HR field. Also, I am looking for suggestions on institutions in Pune. Please help.

Hi,

Kindly note, it's the degree from the institute that matters in India, not MBA or PGDBM. You would be surprised to know that only universities in India have the authority to confer master's degrees, such as Mumbai University and Delhi University. Institutes are authorized to grant only postgraduate degrees.

If you pursue a PGDBM from IIMs (they can't award an MBA degree), it has international accreditation, and you would likely secure the job of your choice. However, if you enroll in a course at the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University, they would grant you a master's degree, i.e., an MBA degree.

In conclusion, it's the institute that matters, not whether it's labeled as a master's or a postgraduate degree. Hope you understand.

Hi Gaggan,

I did receive your message, but I stay in Pune, so I cannot afford to do my course from the universities you have mentioned. The PGDBM that I have told you about is from Symbiosis, but it is a distance learning program. The M.P.M. course is from a college called Wadia's, which comes under Pune University and is recognized by AICTE.
