Aspiring HR Trainer: What Certifications and Skills Do I Need to Succeed?

rivtichand
Hi Everybody, :)

Nice to see such knowledge sharing on the site. I had a query. I am in the HR field for the past 3 years and have completed my MBA in HR. I have a keen interest in Behavioral Training, possessing good communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. My long-term plan is to become a trainer.

However, it is said that one needs to be a certified trainer in this field and should also have some educational qualifications. Can anybody guide me on how to pursue this path? Besides Behavioral Training, which other areas can I cover for training? Please suggest.

Regards,
Rivti Chand

Hi Dear,

You are trying to complete a diploma in Training and Development from ISTD (INDIAN SOCIETY FOR TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT BOARD) in New Delhi, recognized by the Government of India, Ministry of HRD. It is a correspondence course with a duration of 18 months.

Hi dear,

I think you have heard of JCI (Junior Chamber International). It is an association that organizes seminars on various topics. They also provide certificate courses in training and development. You can get more information from their site: [http://www.jci.cc/](http://www.jci.cc/).

With regards,

Thank you so much, Sagar. Could you please provide me with more information about the training courses offered at your place and guide me on the process to obtain certification?

Dear Rivti,

There is one company that trains professionals from different areas to be effective trainers. You could contact them at [Login to view]. They will groom you in your areas of strength and keep challenging you (and, of course, support you too) with different assignments.

This is the only practical hands-on program that I have seen to be really effective. They have trained fashion designers, dentists, engineers, and MBAs who are all sought-after trainers in the corporate world.

All the Best,
Amul

Dear All,

I have heard a lot about the Diploma in Training & Development offered by Delhi University (ISTD). Is this good? I mean, will I be able to give training on "Motivation," "Listening Skills," etc., after doing this course? Please advise. I don't want to learn about what is training, the importance of training, etc.; this I can get from anywhere. I need something practical which I can implement. Do advise as I am really in need of advice.

Rgds,
Vikram
