Considering Child Psychology After HR? Seeking Advice on Distance Learning Options

I am a Post Graduate in HR from the University of Kerala. After that, I worked as an HR Executive in Recruitments for 1 year. Currently, I am in the UAE. I plan to do a course through Distance Education. I wish to study Child Psychology. Could you please guide me in selecting a good course or if Child Psychology is a good choice? Help me...

Hi, why don't you pursue a course for certified professionals? If not, you can opt for Industrial Psychology to strengthen your portfolio. Child Psychology is a bit of a deviation.

You can also try doing a specialization in HR from XLRI through education for working professionals. You can also visit the website of the Distance Education Council. There you have all the universities certified by DEC for Distance Education and also the courses. Maybe there you will get some info on Child Psychology, etc.

I agree with Reagan Lemos. Child Psychology would be useful as well as appropriate for those who want to get into the teaching line, specifically at the school level [NOT colleges]. Industrial Psychology could be one good choice. But, like RRaj suggested, just go through the DEC website and look into the choices they offer. Maybe the information there could give you better options too. These days, HR professionals have a lot of options—it all depends on the individual's interest and aptitude.

Anyone can suggest a course to you, but ultimately, it depends on what you want to do in life, your field of interest, your career, and a job - something you are willing to do day in and day out. If you have decided on that first, then advice can follow. Otherwise, people might keep telling you to pursue all the courses under the sun, but it would be of no value until you have your aptitude and interest in the required field. If child psychology interests you, then go for it. However, if you are unsure whether it's child psychology or something else, then first seek proper counseling on what it involves and if you are ready to take on the responsibilities associated with each job profile. It is you yourself who needs to answer the question of what you want to do before others suggest what you should be doing.
