Should We Welcome Back Former Employees? Navigating Rejoining Letters and Their Formats

harshuu
Hello,

Should an old employee be allowed to rejoin the firm, is he liable for a rejoining letter, and if yes, what should be the format of the letter?

Best Regards,
Prachi

Keeping in mind the shortage of quality resources, many companies have adopted a "back on rolls" policy. They encourage ex-employees to reconsider joining the organization again. However, this policy varies from organization to organization. To keep it simple and attractive, here are a few tips:

- The re-hiring process for ex-employees who have left the organization not more than 6 months back could be a performance feedback from his or her last manager. Based on the feedback, an offer can be made. The reference check, medical check, etc., procedures can be skipped. It should be treated as continuity of service, and the period when he/she was not with the organization can be treated as unpaid long leave.

- The rehiring process for ex-employees who have left the organization more than 6 months back can be that of the normal hiring process, except that he/she would have an edge based on their previous performance. There is no separate letter format for these employees.

Hope the above helps.

In this case, does the finance department need to hold on to the PF docs? In reality, an employee does not want to keep the PF amount pending but wants to withdraw that amount. Is there any solution to this case?

Dear Prachi,

The question raised by Prachi is not at all clear; still, we are giving suggestions. Once someone has resigned, taken their full and final settlement, and wants to rejoin the organization, it will be considered a fresh appointment. Prachi should provide complete facts before an explanation can be given.
