Can We Use a Centralized ESI Code for All Branches Across India? Seeking Advice

We have obtained an ESI code for our Head Office in Varanasi. However, we also have branches all over India, where we deduct ESI from our employees' wages and deposit the ESI amount through challans (sometimes in our client's ESI account and sometimes in our code).

My question is whether a centralized ESI code can be applied for, enabling us to deposit ESI for all our branches under one code, or if ESI codes vary from state to state? Please advise.

The ESI department will issue a sub-code number according to your site. You will follow the sub-code number in different states.

Each company will have a common ESI code along with its head office address. If the office has branches in different cities, the branch HR has to apply for an ESI subcode by visiting the ESI department. Before going, there are a few necessary documents to be taken: a xerox copy of your Main (Head Office ESI Code), lease deed, and you need to get an application form from the ESI office for applying for the Sub Code.
