Can We Use a Centralized ESI Code for All Branches Across India? Seeking Advice

We have got ESI code for our H.O. at Varanasi. But we are also having our branches all over India, where we deduct ESI from our employees' wages and deposit the ESI amount through challans (sometimes in our client's ESI account and sometimes in our code).

My question is whether a centralized ESI code can be applied for to enable us to deposit ESI of all our branches in one code OR if ESI codes vary from state to state? Please advise.

Hi Ramu,

Each company will have a common ESI code along with its head office address. If the office has branches in different cities, the branch HR has to apply for an ESI subcode by visiting the ESI department. Before going, there are a few necessary documents to be taken: a xerox copy of your Main (Head Office ESI Code), lease deed, and you need to get an application form from the ESI office for applying for the Sub Code.
