How to Handle a Company Requesting You to Extend Your Notice Period?

Hi all, I am working in an MNC as a programmer. I have resigned and am serving my notice period. My company wants me to stay longer than the notice period specified in the offer letter. However, I am not interested, and they are unwilling to accept this. Can someone advise me on how to handle this situation?

Send them a letter, not an email, signed by you, via Speed Post with POD. In this letter, you must refer to and extract the notice period clause in your appointment letter, as well as the date of submission of your resignation, the notice period, and your intended Last Working Day (LWD). Upon receipt of this notice from you, they should definitely relieve you.

Steps to Handle Notice Period Disputes

Discontinue going to the office immediately from the day after the completion of the notice period. Send a letter to the company via Registered Post Acknowledgement Due (RPAD), mentioning the details of your resignation, notice period, and completion of the notice period. Insist on receiving a relieving order and your final settlement, if any. This letter will serve as proof that you are legally relieved from the previous organization, even in the absence of a relieving letter from the company, in case you join another company. Wait a reasonable amount of time for a reply from your company. If there is no response, seek legal help.
