Dear Aditya,
We have three layer structure
- Workmen
- Staff
- Offier (or Executive)
Earlier our workmen category people were represted by grade starting from W6 (shich is the lower most). He moves up in the ladder W5, W4, upto W1. (W6 is lowermost and S1 is top most)
Similarly we had staff level employees represented by S6,S5,S4 etc. upto S1. (S6 is lower most and S1 is to most)
However, salary structure (like DA, HRA, conveyance, etc. were one and the same of these two levels)
We have 33 branches all over India and the branch people whether they are technician/mechanic or even staff are denoted bY "S grade". However in chennai alone there were "S level" and "W level". After my coming, I merged these two levels (as there is no different w.r.t. salary) and named as "S Level"
Now, when we say S1, S2,S3, etc., it denotes both workmen and staff level of our organization
Next is Officer Level : they are represented by grade 'M". It starts with M* (M Star), then grows in the ladder like M1, M1*, M2, M2*, etc.
M4 level employee is normally Managers, M5 is Sr. Manager, M6 - AGM, M7- DGM, M8 - GM. And Directors are denoted by D1.
This is what the classification we follow.
Please also find attached a probably designation structure commensurate with their grade. All these are adopted in our company, but this need not be followed verbatim. You can always modify, amend and fine-tune according to your company's policy.
