Embracing Self-Improvement: A Moral Tale of Personal Responsibility

Dear All,

Hope you will enjoy this story.

Once upon a time, there was a king who ruled a prosperous country. One day, he went on a trip to some distant areas of his country. When he returned to his palace, he complained that his feet were very painful because it was the first time he had gone on such a long trip, and the road he traveled through was very rough and stony. He then ordered his people to cover every road in the entire country with leather. This would definitely require thousands of cows' skins and would cost a huge amount of money.

One of his wise servants dared to tell the king, "Why do you have to spend that unnecessary amount of money? Why don't you just cut a little piece of leather to cover your feet?"

The king was surprised, but he later agreed to his suggestion and made a "shoe" for himself.

There is a valuable life lesson in this story: To make this world a happier place to live, it is better to change ourselves - our hearts - and not the world.

Hi Kalpana,

It's a good story. I agree with you, if you want to change the world, you need to change yourself.

Hi,

Really nice and a moral story. Instead of changing the world or blaming others, we have to change ourselves. What we expect from others, we should give to them as well.

Thanks
