Calculating Leave for New Employees: How Do Start Dates Affect Entitlements?

In our company, the leave rule is 7 SL and 7 CL, and leave is accrued according to the calendar year. My question is, if someone joins on 19 June and another person joins on 11 June, how should we calculate their leave?

I also have the same query. I joined in May 2010. According to the leave policy of the company, every employee can avail 8 CL & 5 ML annually. I have availed 3 leaves till September. Now, please tell me how the remaining leaves can be calculated?

It's always done on a pro-rata basis, as Ijalab mentioned. When it's 7 CLs per annum, the monthly eligibility is 7/12 = 0.6 days per month. Just multiply that by the number of months you have been in service, rounding off to the nearest whole number or digit.

Question on Leave Calculation

Now, I have to ask one thing: if the annual leave is 14 (7 CL & 7 SL), and someone joins on 14 May and another joins on 24 or 27 May, meaning 4 months have passed, in the 5th month they have joined, will both get (14/12 * 8) 4.5 CL & 4.5 SL, or is there any other calculation? Please solve.
