How Should We Handle Requests for Fake Degree Certificates in Our HR Community?

anil.arora
Hi All,

Today, I have received a message from a member of our citeHR club requesting some scanned copies of original degree certificates/mark-sheets for MBA - HR. I have decided to take this seriously and would like to discuss it with all the members of this professional cite.

We have a moral and social responsibility to address this issue, giving them a chance to realize the seriousness of their actions and requests. I don't understand why he is asking for this as it is an illegal request, knowing that it is not appropriate.

Why don't these people understand that this is not a legitimate demand? Why do they do this? One should be honest about their qualifications at least.

Is this a sensible request? Don't you think we should take action against such demands or raise it to be dealt with seriously? We should have the option to report such issues to all our members so that everyone is aware and does not support this.

I have requested our moderators to provide us with an option to flag such threads/requests/demands, which will alert all our members in their accounts (a flagging option).

I urge all of you to support this and share your views on it.

Please share the details of that member. Such behavior is completely unacceptable. Thanks for raising this concern. I request you to share the details at the earliest, as we need to take further actions on it.

Dear (Cite Contribution),

Thank you for your response. I have already sent my query to you through the "Contact Us" option.

I have shared the details of the member via private message because initially, I did not want to disclose the member's name, but I want you to take serious action as this could have negative consequences here.

(Cite Contribution), here's what I believe: we should have an option in our accounts that allows us to tag/flag such members and their activities. This way, we can inform all Cite members through their accounts or send a message to us in the form of a private message or any other means so that we can take action against these illegal demands.

One should not support this behavior. However, many people are seeking help of this kind from us, and they have no means to stop it as they communicate with each other through private messages, which others may not be aware of. This system can help us prevent such incidents.

I hope you will consider my suggestion and take immediate action.

Thank you,
Anil Arora

Dear Anil,

We are strictly against such fraudulent, unfair and illegal practices. The concerned member has been banned. We have a system of initially warning the member if reported on such issues and then banning. For an incident like this, it's no brainer. It's a clear ban on that member.

Appreciate your effort in raising the alarm. In future, if you come across such incident, request you to report it through the tab given on the page. Thank you for writing to us.

Indeed, this is a breach. There should not be any transmission of confidential or personal documents that can be misused unless required for a specific purpose in person.

Thank you for your support and immediate action, Ms. [Name]. One thing I want to know is what if I don't want to discuss this kind of thing and want to avail this opportunity with interest. In that case, no one can catch me, so do you have any option to block this kind of activity.

Secondly, I have discussed this with you, and you took action accordingly. How can we inform and encourage our other members not to engage in these kinds of activities or issues? We are here not only to share and gain knowledge but also to assist others professionally and encourage them.

Blocking the member is not the solution to this problem. We must do something to motivate people. Am I right?

We should inform the other members about it. Since I posted this thread, there have been 36 views with only one additional post apart from our discussion. I would like you to provide us with an option to inform others.

Thank you.

I also received the same thing yesterday, but I couldn't understand what he is actually asking. I replied that if you really need help, explain your query to this forum, and they will assist you. I really don't know if this is an illegal activity!

Indhu.

First, you can call me Anil or Lucky. Second, you must raise this issue and disclose the name of this member because we want to remove them. We don't tolerate this kind of unprofessionalism here. Please let us know the name of this person, and you should not ignore this.

It is not only these sorts of activities that need to be stamped out immediately, and offending members banned.

There is still the ongoing problem here at CiteHR in regard to members illegally posting copyright materials, books, etc.

I regularly report illegal postings to the owner, and he takes the offending post down, but unfortunately, many members have downloaded the material before I can report it.

Many members may think it is okay to steal copyright material, but it is not. The longer this activity goes on, copyright owners will eventually take action against CiteHR, and you will lose this valuable site.

Is that what you want??

Many of you will probably be tired of seeing my posts in various threads about the illegal posting of copyright material, but I feel very strongly about it. If any of you were to write a book that had the potential to make you a lot of money, would you like to see your fellow members posting that book on CiteHR for others to download free and deprive you of an income? I don't think so.

By all means, campaign about illegal activity and try to stop it, but please include ALL illegal activities, not just one.

Thank you for bringing this very relevant and serious issue to the forefront. It has legal ramifications and would impact CiteHR negatively, something none of us would like.

The flow of fraudulent degrees, certificates, diplomas, and recommendation letters seems to have increased in the past few years. Perhaps if the personal details/contacts of members were not exhibited, it would be difficult for unscrupulous 'members' to make such demands/requests.

The gentleman should be kicked out of this forum, and the issue should be treated as closed. This is not only unethical but also illegal, showcasing the mental makeup of the member and his hidden intentions.

This is an immoral thing, and we can't accept these types of activities. It is better to have a code of conduct here. This is a very useful site where we can increase our professional and personal potential.

I agree with John that there have been a lot of illegal postings that have been going on. I have been reading posts on this forum for quite some time now, and have also noticed that there have been several unethical requests like the one mentioned above. Most of them look like requests from students who would want to copy material off this site for their projects/assignments. Does this not amount to plagiarism? As responsible members of this forum, can we think of some ways to prevent this?

Dear Anil/Lucky,

I was shocked to hear that someone from this vast tree of knowledge has been defaced. This is not a good sign for all of us who are priests of knowledge. You are tasked with bringing these unknown persons before the world of Cite HR to investigate this type of offense or any illegal activities that could corrupt the system. We must prevent such incidents from happening here in the future.

Yes, we are standing by you. Go ahead.

Hi Kiran, thank you for your response. I want to inform you that necessary action has been taken, and the individual has been banned from the site by the moderator. Upon receiving the irrelevant request in my inbox, I immediately alerted the moderator to take appropriate actions. I also suggested the implementation of a flag/tag option in our accounts to identify and report such individuals to other members.

I would like to address the concerns raised by other members regarding sharing/posting of documents on the site. As we are all here to share our knowledge and experiences with one another, it is essential that we help each other as much as possible. If someone requests samples or assistance with forms such as ESIC & EPF or their calculations and rules, it is our duty to provide support. However, we should refrain from fulfilling requests for sensitive documents like certificate copies or marksheets.

Regarding complaints about copyright infringement, I want to clarify that the moderator has provided an attachment function/system that prohibits the posting of copyrighted documents. I urge those raising concerns to provide solutions to address the issue of "Copyright Posts."

To all members expressing observations and challenges with the document posting system, please share your suggestions and solutions to improve the platform and address any issues. Your input is valuable in enhancing the professionalism and functionality of this community.

As I conclude this thread, I extend my gratitude to all for your support and for raising these critical issues for resolution.

This is a ridiculous demand that should be objected to with suitable legal action.

Greetings, Mr. Anil!

I would like to thank you for sharing the topic; it will be helpful for other members to be aware of such individuals. My point of view is that only one person should benefit from the struggles they have faced. If possible, please post the name of the member who requested the scan copies.

Best regards,

Mr. Mahender, I guess you haven't read my threads because I have mentioned the name of the member several times who has asked for this irrelevant demand, and he is already banned by the moderator. Well, thanks for your support to all of those who have voted in my poll and shared their opinions and suggestions.
