National Holiday on a Saturday: Is It Legal for Companies to Ask You to Work?

Is it legal for any company to ask the employees to work on a non-working Saturday in case of a national holiday like Gandhi Jayanti (2nd October) falling on a working Saturday?

As per the Bombay Shops and Establishment Act of 1948, employees are entitled to a paid holiday on the 26th of January, the 1st of May, the 15th of August, and the 2nd of October every year (Section 35(4)).
