Why Are Java Candidates Accepting Offers but Not Joining? Seeking Solutions for No-Shows

Hi,

We recently extended 13 offers to Java candidates with 4+ years of experience, but only 2 have joined so far. It is truly disheartening when some candidates respond with frivolous reasons, and some do not respond at all. We have encountered situations where candidates have joined for a day and then failed to show up thereafter.

Can anyone provide suggestions on how to address this issue?

Hi,

Would you like to consider the following:

1) What is the induction process you have for all new joiners?
2) Is all infrastructure (workstation, seating, PC) provided from day one?
3) Put yourself in your new joiners' shoes - would you be happy with your current process?

Once you do this, also conduct a survey of your recruitment and joining process with those who have joined your company in the last 3 months. Based on this, you will have a clear idea about the gaps in your system. At the end of it, please don't take an employee who walks off like this personally. You just can't reason with some people.

In today's market, this is prevailing because of the demand. We happen to interview people even after knowing that the candidate has two more offers in hand. Cases may vary for dropouts but it's on the recruitment tracker that reflects. Make sure that the joining time of the candidate doesn't exceed 15 days. This may help to an extent. However, there are candidates who join and leave the organization. That means there is a gap.

In some cases, if the project description and role are not clearly mentioned properly or the growth prospects are not discussed, or if the candidate is recruited for a forecasted requirement and currently has no project allotted, then the backouts may exist. Make sure that you discuss the role clearly during the interview. In case of forecasted requirement, make sure that he is reciprocated about the upcoming project status.
