How Should We Handle Mathadi Workers' Demands Amid Forklift Modernization?

Rakesh Dhote
Dear Sir, please could someone suggest to me on the matter below? Our company is registered with the Mathadi Board, and 13 workers are working with us. They are involved in truck loading/unloading, material shifting, stacking, etc. We have recently purchased two forklifts for material handling. 80% of our materials are palletized, whether finished goods or raw materials. Currently, only 20% of the work is done manually. The forklifts were purchased to save time and reduce manual labor costs.

However, a dispute has arisen as the Mathadi unprotected workers are demanding payment for any forklift work, even if they have not handled any materials. Is it not permissible for a company/organization to consider cost-cutting and modernization efforts?

Please advise on what steps to take.

We are a registered company with the board with four workers. However, recently we purchased a mobile crane for loading and unloading steel items into trucks at our factory. Hence, we have discontinued paying levies and wages to the board but are paying directly to workers. Now these board officers are issuing a notice that even belt tying to material for lifting by crane is a Mathadi work and so the act applies. How in the world is this possible? Also, note that all PF and WCT benefits are provided to all workers and staff. Kindly guide.
