Is It Wise to Return to My Old Company in a Lower Role After a Long Job Gap?

nzr75
Hi there,

Can anyone please tell me if it is okay to go back to a previous company with a lower designation? I was working as an Assistant Manager in a reputed company, but due to some issues, I had to resign. I was without a job for more than a year and a half. My former company is willing to rehire me at a lower designation but in a new role and with a decent package.

Please help me navigate through my confusion. Can someone offer advice?

Thank you.

Hi,

It would be advisable only in case of severe desperation. I presume having spent 18 months without gainful employment it is the first thing to do. However, if you are having other discussions in progress, you may adopt a wait-and-watch approach; otherwise, grab whatever is possible.

Kind regards,

Thanks so much for your reply.

Currently, I am working with a charitable trust on a lower package. I am confused about whether I should opt for a lower designation with a high package or a high designation with a lesser package with the charitable trust.

Thanks for your reply. Actually, I'm confused about whether to go for a lower designation with a high package or a decent designation with a lesser package with the charity trust.

I would suggest you to opt for a higher designation with a lower package because I am sure everybody knows nowadays it is easy to get a salary hike but not easy to get a designation hike.

You should continue right now and keep looking for a similar profile that you were handling 18 months ago.
