Dear All,

Kindly help me understand the differences between workmen's compensation policy and employee compensation policy. Also, please clarify if we can include a Group Insurance policy of any contractors under the employee compensation policy.

Dear Mr. Puttaraju,

There is no difference between the Workmen Compensation policy and the Employee Compensation policy. Previously, the Employee Compensation Policy was known as Workmen Compensation. The term "workmen" has now been replaced with "employee" in the Employee Compensation Act.

Yes, you can consider the policy of your contractor under the Employee Compensation Act.

Dear Kapil, Thank you for your valuable reply. Kindly let me know, in a group insurance policy, there is a limit for compensation. However, under the EC policy, there is no limit for compensation. If the compensation fixed by the department is more than the policy's fixed limit, where is the provision for making up the difference in the amount of compensation?

Regards,
Puttaraju M.
