Exploring Teaching as a Career: Pros, Cons, and the Need for Industrial Experience

arathivkn
Hi,

I am a fresh MBA (HR) graduate. I would like to know the pros and cons of taking teaching as a profession. Do I really need industrial exposure before starting my teaching career? Please give me a suggestion.

Teaching is a noble profession, but it does not pay as much as one would expect. However, it would be good to obtain a teaching qualification to strengthen teaching skills.

Dear Arathi,

I would strongly advise you to gain industrial experience before embarking on teaching management courses. This recommendation is based on my personal experience.

Have a nice day.

If you would like to continue your career as a teacher, you have to pursue a Ph.D. as well. Only having an MBA may not result in a higher salary or be considered sufficient for a professorial position. My suggestion is that along with teaching, you should also pursue a Ph.D. to enhance your career prospects. Carry on and have a great future.

Dear Arati,

Teaching is such a noble profession that provides immense satisfaction, whereas industrial experience can be monotonous and tiring. Of course, practical experience plays a crucial role in teaching, but choosing the teaching profession based on interest can transform anyone into a great teacher.

Dear Arati,

I would advise you not to go with teaching. It was a noble profession long back, but the scenario is completely different now. In my own experience, you won't be satisfied because the salary is low compared to the workload. It's also a monotonous job. All the best.

Thank you.
