How Can I Dive into Training and Development While Balancing My HR Role?

srividhyakannan
This is Srividhya from Chennai. I am working as an HR in a software company. I am more interested in training and development apart from other activities in HR. However, I have not been involved too much in training and development.

Can anyone please let me know the various forms and processes available in the Training department? I am also planning to do freelancing training for some companies in recruitment since I am very strong in recruitment.

Thanks and regards,
Srividhya

Hi Srividhya,

Before I give you any advice, I would like to understand:
1) What do you like about training & Development?
2) What motivates you to become a trainer?

You must be honest with yourself here because more than anything else, a training career is a huge investment in time before you see the results. Based on your response, I think we can then guide you towards your dream. If you wish to discuss this offline, email me.

If you are interested in Training and Development, it is very simple. Sit with your project manager and try to understand what skills he requires for his team members. Once you know the requirements, try to identify who has good knowledge in that subject within your company or outside, and arrange the training program. After the training program, gather feedback from the employees and suggestions. After recognizing the improvement of skills, prepare a report on the cost benefits you have brought to the organization with the enhanced skills and present it to the management. That's it.

If you want to be a trainer for recruiters, you have to prepare a good PowerPoint presentation, and you should be proficient in the language you deliver. Of course, it is English. Then, convince the management of how beneficial your training will be for the organization.

Thank you,

Regards,

You should be proficient in the language when delivering the lecture.
