Dear Dhanashree,
U r from Pune i.e. in the Maharashtra, so, the professional tax rates are as under:
1. upto 5000 Nil
2. when salary/wages exceeds 5000/- 175/-p.m.
3. when salary/wages exceeds 10000/- 200/-p.m and 300/-
for 12 th month as to complete the max p.t. for Rs. 2500/-yearly.
Therefore the employee getting more than 10000/-is liable to pay 2500/-during the accounting year, but note that if in some month due to absentee the salary or wages drop down in between 5000 to 10000 then the deduction will be 175/- , drop down below 5000 then there will be no deduction.
Hope u understand this,

can u explain current minimum wages of factory act. There is two types of special allowance and we could not understand.
suyoglabourconsultants
Dear Sanip,
Don't be so confused, first of all u decide in which schedule ur factory covered, if it is an engineering so, it will come under Engineering Sch. and according to the zone u can fix the basic pay and in addition to that special allowance will be attracted. secondly, there is another schedule called 'resuduary' factories under factory act. it applies to those who are not covered in tha scheduled employment but covered or registered under factory act. therefore u go through as per ur unit and what type of it,
regards
