Understanding Employee Welfare in Salary: How to Maximize Your Benefits and Claims?

navingupta
Hi,

I have some queries on the Employee Welfare component in Salary. It is under the reimbursement category and mentioned that I can claim for Car operating/Conveyance/Telephone Bill/Entertainment/Attire for self. Now my queries are:

1) Do we need to submit bills for the claim?

2) What all things can be considered for Entertainment? Will it be Internet/Cable? Please list them all.

3) Will only the office attire be considered under employee welfare? (I don't know yet if there is any dress code in the new company)

4) Is it a taxable component?

Kindly let me know how I can claim the maximum of the Employee Welfare component.

Thanks in advance for your replies/help.

Dear Nachiz Navin,

Only the HR department in the new company can answer your questions as per established internal policies and procedures.

I think this will be helpful to you:

1. **Car Operating Expenses**:
- Submit original stamped receipt for the driver's salary, original petrol/diesel bills, and original maintenance bills.
- Original bill for car hire.

2. **Telephone Reimbursement**:
- Landline/mobile bill connection should be registered in the concerned employee's name.

3. **Entertainment**:
- Hotel and food bills.

4. **Professional Pursuit**:
- Original payment receipt for skill upgradation programs/courses.

5. **Periodicals**:
- Newspaper, books, magazines.

6. **Office Wear Allowance**:
- Employees can claim office wear allowance by producing the original bills for:
- Gents: Shirts, trousers, ties, coats, shoes, socks.
- Ladies: Sarees, churidars, trousers, shirts, shoes.
- Not more than Rs. 18,000/- per annum.

These are the components available to choose from; however, an employee can choose a minimum of two or all the above to match the total monthly entitlement as a reimbursement. Yes, there is a need to submit the bills as per the amount mentioned in the salary structure.
