Employee Insurance in Software Companies

Is employee insurance a must for all employees in a software company? When should the insurance start for a new joiner (in the probation period)? What should be included in employee insurance—accidental, maternity? What if an employee meets with an accident before the insurance policy is issued? Should the company pay for the medical expenses since there is no insurance?

It is not compulsory, but it depends on the company's policy. The terms of the policy are decided between the insurer company and the insured, as well as the terms of employment.
