Understanding the Difference Between Salary and Wages
The wages are given to those who work on a daily basis and get paid daily, irrespective of their work. Wages are generally paid as per the Minimum Wage Act and according to their industry and location (Zone 1, 2 & 3). The wages are paid daily, and if they work for 20 days, they are eligible for 1 day of earned leave (which has to be availed or reimbursed).
Apart from that, salary is the remuneration that is paid on a monthly basis, along with allowances and perquisites such as BASIC & DA, Conveyance allowance, medical allowance, special allowance, and other allowances, etc. Salary is paid monthly and calculated for 26 days only (with the weekly off that may vary month on month). Here, employees enjoy CL, PL, and SL as per rules. Please note that all CL, PL, and SL are given under the Shop and Establishment Act and vary in each state.
Hope this clears your doubts.
