Mr. Rohit Sharma explained in detail how they recovered 5000 sq. ft. of space by implementing the 5S in the JREW Engg. Mohali. They also sorted out the obsolete items, recovered a lot of blocked money, segregated the usable items, created a more disciplined working culture, implemented Inventory reduction, Productivity enhancement, and saved a lot of time. There are many others in and around Chandigarh who have also been implementing similar practices. It initially takes time to train people in the 5S Culture. The beginning (first S - Seiri - SORTING) is a bit difficult, and the last S (Stritsuke - SUSTAINABILITY / DISCIPLINE) is the most challenging. Once the system is set in order, it works on its own.
