Worried About Missing Provident Fund Details? How to Handle Missing PF Account Info

janmejaykushwaha
Dear Seniors,

Please help! I joined a firm in Dec 2009, but till date, I have not received my PF account number, statement of account, or any other receipt. I don't even know whether the amount deducted from my salary is being deposited or not. If the employer deposits that amount in this FY 2010-11, what will be the amount for 04 months of FY-2009-10 (Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar)?

Please help!

Dear JK,

You need to visit the HR Department in your company and inquire about your PF status. They will confirm whether the amount is being deposited by them or not. After that, you can contact the PF office.

Thanks

Dear JK,

First, you should directly ask your HR department to provide your PF number. However, if the employer neglects your request, you can approach the Regional PF Office and consult the EDP section. When requesting assistance from the EDP section, it is important to be smart and humble. Simply provide your company name and your own name. The person there will verify your records through the computer and inform you of the exact status as of the current date.

Hi,

Any company having a total staff count of 20 persons will be included. The employee contribution is 12% of his/her basic salary. The employer contributes an equal amount into each employee's account. Every year, the employer receives a consolidated statement from the PF office detailing the total contributions made by the employer and the employee. The employer, in turn, will have to provide a statement indicating the contributions made each month and the total amount contributed.

As you are still with the same company, I suggest that you speak to your HR department and try to get the details. Get the establishment code (company code) and also your PF account number. With this information, you can log into the EPF website to check on the contributions made by the company. In certain cities, it is also possible to get the balance available in the account. This can be done by logging into the website and entering the account details. If it is confirmed that the company has been regularly contributing, then there is nothing to worry. The money deposited with the PF office is very safe and cannot be withdrawn or canceled, even by the employer. Only the concerned employee will have the right to access this account.

If you still have doubts, then it is better to contact the PF office branch where the company has its account and meet the PF commissioner or the concerned officer to get your doubts clarified.

Regards,

Nair.
