How Can We Boost Team Bonding and Fairness with New Employee Welfare Activities?

HRSushil
Hello HR Folks, I have a query regarding Employee Welfare. I want to initiate an employee welfare activity to increase team bonding and ensure employees do not feel injustice. Since our company employees perform similarly, we cannot start an "Employee of the Month" or similar awards. We already provide Mediclaim and other perks, but I aim to introduce a stress-buster and team bonding welfare activity. (Subject to the budget allocated to us.)

Suggestions, please!

You still have an allotted budget. I am now facing the challenge of institutionalizing a welfare policy for which the budget is zero and should be done only after working hours. I have already initiated and am starting with the conducting of friendly games and sports, and the winners would be just appreciated. It is still in the policy mode, and I am hoping for certain action to take place.

Suggestions for Employee Welfare Activities

In the case you mentioned, my suggestions would be:

-  1-minute games filled with fun (e.g., "Who wears a Saree in a minute" for gents, vegetable cutting game, etc.)
-  Songs competition wherein the participants should be able to sing a song using given words.
- ❓ Spot question event (e.g., "Who has his wife's pic in his wallet?" "Who has the most piercings on her body?" Kinda...)

Hope this could be of some use to you guys.

In the present scenario, I believe it is important to choose a platform that provides individuals with the opportunity to express themselves and communicate openly with other team members in an informal environment. This can help strengthen and enhance rapport among team members. I suggest organizing some informal family get-togethers for team members. I hope this suggestion proves helpful.

Sony and Laxmee's suggestions are superb, especially the spot question, which will be a lot of fun during the informal get-together that Laxmee suggested. You could also call the gathering "Let's Bond Day." Before then, a list of activities should be sent to all and require them to give suggestions as well.

You can also have funky awards, like "Who Wears It Better," AKA the best-dressed male or female, most eligible bachelor, etc.

Recreational Activities for Employee Engagement

To attain the desired goal and retain the best employees, the following recreational activities can be initiated:

(i) Conduct regular health and medical checkup camps.

(ii) Reward and Recognition - Implement programs such as Employee of the Month, Star of the Month, and Department of the Year.

(iii) Sports Activities (Indoor/Outdoor) - Organize games like basketball, badminton, chess, carrom board, and other fun games such as lemon race and tug of war.

(iv) Musical Day/Happy Hours - Play audio songs (instrumental, etc.) at regular intervals during the day, which can be operated or controlled from the reception, IT department, or HR.

(v) In-House Movie Screening - Using the company's projector and screen, HR can arrange a movie show once a month, for example, every last Friday of the month. Motivational, comedy, and other selected movies can be played.

(vi) Celebration of Festivals and Significant Days - Organize events with a traditional dress code theme, refreshments, DJ system, entertainment programs, and fun games.

(vii) Celebration of Employee Birthdays and Anniversaries

Thank you.
