New Rupee Symbol Released: How to Install and Use It on Your Keyboard

RKJHRM
Dear all,

The Indian Government has finally unveiled the symbol for the Rupee. You can install the font on your system. This symbol will appear by pressing the key just above the Tab key.

Thanks,

Open the JIP format. There will be two options on top: PRINT and INSTALL. Press INSTALL, the font will be installed in your font directory.

Hi all,

Just save the file to the Windows folder in the fonts folder.

1. First, right-click on the TTF file and save it to C:WindowsFonts. Then, recheck by opening a new Word document and changing the font to Rupee Foradian. This sign will appear by pressing the upper key of the Tab button.

Dear All,

The easiest way to type a rupee sign in documents is as follows: select any Hindi font (e.g., Kruti Dev) and type the letter "J" (which is used to get the Hindi alphabet "र"), then from the Format menu, select Font and choose Strike through.

You are now ready with the Rupee sign.

Happy Independence Day.

This file is not working. It's a zip file and it can't be saved in the Fonts folder of Windows. It says the file is corrupt. The Hindi font is not there on my system. Can anyone out here please explain how it's working on your computer??

Here are the steps:

1. Copy the file and paste it into the Fonts folder (you can either go to the control panel or C:windows).
2. Open a Word document.
3. Select the Rupee font type or type it directly.
4. Now, type the key that is above the TAP key (i.e., before 1).
5. The Rupee symbol will now be displayed.

Even I tried opening the file on my PC, it shows a print option, not the install one. Kindly help. I am using Vista on Compaq Core Duo. Please suggest.

I opened the ZIP format of the Rupee file, but it only gives a print option and does not contain an install option. How can I install the Rupee symbol?

Thanks, it is working, but first, we have to change the font to "Rupee font" in MS Word before pressing Tab + the above key. The other thing is, after using the Rupee font, we have to again change the font to the previous one to continue typing.

Can anyone suggest any more shortcut keys so that we can save time on that?

Thanks in advance to all and thanks to Rajesh for sharing this useful software with us here.

Warm Regards,

I am trying to open it, but the INSTALL option is not there. As Antony suggested, I right-clicked on the ttf to save, but there is no SAVE option available. Please guide me. Smita
