I am Professor X, with a leading B-School in Pune, and these are my notes. I hope they are of some help to you. Please feel comfortable to revert in case of any discrepancy.
There are many ways companies can recruit candidates, such as internal and external recruitment. Internal recruitment can take the form of job postings, job bidding, employee referrals, etc. External methods can involve using media such as newspapers, TV, magazines, and campus recruiting. The latest trend now is internet recruiting.
Hi, I am doing a project on the comparative study between the traditional and modern methods of recruitment. I am Neha, and I am pursuing my MBA in HR while working in a consultancy firm. Please help me with it. I want to create a questionnaire on this topic; can someone please suggest some questions?
Like most people's practices, recruitment has a military link to it. Recruitment for a fee, or 'recrute' in French, was added to the French dictionary in the 18th century. There are records showing that a private recruitment organization started in the 19th century. Job Centers and Private Recruitment Firms really took off in the early 20th century in line with the high demand of people to support the war efforts in Europe. The first Executive Search firm was Boyden in 1946. Recruitment in its truest form would be conscription, and it's arguable where and when that started.
Internal Methods:
- Employee referral
- Promotions
- And so on
Hope that was helpful.
Regards,
H
