Casual Leave on Half-Day Saturdays: Should It Count as Half or Full Day?

sunilbdeshmukh
On the 2nd and 4th Saturday, we work for half a day only. If an employee takes casual leave on that day, should their leave be counted as half a day or a full day?

Though the company is working only half a day for a full-day's work, you have to deduct a full day's pay for the absent employee.

I agree.

To put it differently, the employee was absent for all working hours on that particular day. A full-day salary deduction is justified.

Even though you work for only half a day on some Saturdays, employees are paid their full salary for working on such days. Therefore, leave taken on such days will be considered as a full day's leave.

The employee who remains absent on Saturday (though it's a half-working day) means that he has not reported for duty on that particular day (Saturday) and will be treated as absent for the day, i.e., one day.

You have to apply the Equal Pay policy. Those who attend work will be paid a full day's salary, and those who are on leave can apply for half a day only, as the company is not paying for that particular half-day but will pay the salary for the second half regardless of the person.

I think this is correct. You can't treat individuals differently.

Full-day leave is required from the employee who has not attended the office on the 2nd or 4th Saturdays. Even though on these days, employees have to work for only a half day.
