Understanding Non-Taxable Allowances: What Are They and How Much Can You Claim?

Some allowances:

- Conveyance: Rs. 800/- per month
- Child Education Allowance: Rs. 100/- per month per child (maximum 2 children)
- Child Hostel Allowance: Rs. 300/- per month per child (maximum 2 children)
- HRA: 50% of basic in metros & 40% in non-metros
- Medical Assistance: Rs. 1250/- per month (proof to be produced)
- LTA: maximum 2 basic salaries (exempted once in block years)
- Food coupons: Rs. 1350/- per month
- Club Allowance: maximum 2 lakhs per annum.
