As per my understanding, even though it's at a project stage, a safety officer is supposed to perform the mentioned duties only. However, in most Indian companies, safety officers are often seen as security guards just roaming the project sites every time. Moreover, the management also expects this from them. This lack of clarity on roles and responsibilities exists both for the management and safety professionals. A safety professional should act as a facilitator, and the primary responsibility for safety lies with those executing the job.

In essence, the concept that "Safety is a line management responsibility" needs to be reinforced and solidified.
