Transitioning to HR in Hospitality: How Can My Hotel Management Degree Help?

sshreeka
Hello,

I am Shreekaanth, currently pursuing my MBA (2nd semester) in Chennai. I have a Bachelor's degree in Hotel Management and graduated in 2005. I am looking to transition into the HR department within the hospitality industry. Could anyone provide guidance on the opportunities available in this industry and advise if my undergraduate course would be beneficial in any way?

Additionally, I am about to undertake my summer internship and I am keen on interning in the hospitality sector, such as hotels, fast-food chains, or airlines. Can anyone suggest some suitable topics for my project that I will be working on during my internship?

Regards,
S. Shreekaanth

Dear Members of citehr,

I have completed my MBA in HR in 2006 and a 3-year Diploma in Hotel Management. I am currently pursuing LL.B. However, I have not yet had the opportunity to work in the HR field, despite having 11 years of work experience in Hospitality Administration.

My questions are:

1. How can I secure a good opportunity in the HR field?
2. Will having an LL.B. degree be beneficial in obtaining a job in HR?
3. Are there sufficient opportunities in the HR field within the Hotel/Hospitality Industry?
4. What are the qualifications required for a Facility Manager?

Regards,
Samarjeet Singh
