Need Help Crafting 40 Open-Ended Questions on Incentives and Training for EPC Company

chinu
Hi friends,

I am supposed to prepare 40 open-ended questions on incentives, reward policies, and HR policies, as well as 40 questions on training and skills enhancement for an EPC company. Can anyone please help me out in preparing these questions?

Thanks,
Chinu

Hi Chinu,

Please note that a large number of open-ended questions, as you have stated, would be extremely complex to quantify. I suggest you minimize open-ended questions and utilize closed-ended questions instead to make things simpler.

Anyway, if you insist, I may help you with a few.

Hi Girish,

How are you? Thanks for replying to my request. Actually, I have a project in which I'm supposed to prepare such questions. That's why I'm in need of help, and I'm not able to figure out how I should start. Please tell me some questions.

Thanks,
Chinu

Hi Chinu,

As Girish mentioned, quantifying open-ended questions is difficult. I suggest that you first identify various related aspects. Then, breaking them up into questions will be easy. Since you have mentioned that it's a project, objectives of the study will help in the direction of the questions.

Can you provide more detail on your project? It is hard to help with so little direction. I would suggest that you look into the research literature for questions. It is very hard to even give examples unless you can tell us the objective of your project.

Hi jbartii,

Thank you for replying to my request. Actually, my project is about training and skills enhancement in the company where I am working. My company is an EPC company. For that, I am supposed to prepare a questionnaire, and I am not able to understand how to start it or what kind of questions I should go for. I am actually thinking of using closed-ended questions.

I would suggest you look at the ISPI - the International Society for Performance Improvement web page. They provide an excellent model at http://www.ispi.org/services/whatshptmodel.pdf that shows how to look at the desired work performance compared to the actual to find the gap.

I would suggest if this is a full project, you look for a consultant to help you determine the desired work performance if you are having difficulty in this area. Otherwise, no matter how great your survey is, the results will not help you.

Ok, fine. Please tell me this:

Q) What is the purpose of your research? And who are your target respondents? For example, is it to determine the training and development requirements of the marketing department or the Technical Divisions, etc.
