Seeking Affordable Training Module Alternatives: Where to Find Reliable CD Resources?

I need your help with the following:

My organization believes that the investment involved in full-fledged trainings on various skills or behavioral aspects is going to be too high - monetarily as well as in terms of time spent per person. Therefore, they have asked me to seek alternatives in 'Software' support or to purchase training modules available as CDs. I have been informed that these CDs not only cover the entire theoretical content but also include tests at the end.

Can you please provide me with information on websites where such modules are available for sale or recommend specific CDs that you have confidence in? Additionally, if I purchase a CD and make copies for all employees, am I allowed to conduct the final assessment for everyone?

I do understand there's a major cost involved when training happens across, but only CDs won't solve your purpose. You might adopt a blended learning approach where classroom training reinforcement is done through online learning or e-learning. There are many companies into e-learning; you can try them out. You can check out 24x7learning; they have numerous e-learning modules.

Thank you for your response. I checked out the website of 24X7learning. The irony is that e-learning (or developing e-learning modules) may also be considered expensive. I have been asked to buy ready-made training modules and pass on the CDs to all, having set timelines for people to submit their responses. I appreciate the concept of blended learning but am not sure if it will be well-received here at the moment.

Do you know of any good training modules available on CDs that come complete with evaluation?

Hi Sonali,

First of all, plan your training according to your employees' needs and organizational needs. Training for the sake of "training" only does not serve any purpose. Consider the following points while planning:

1) List out training subjects.
2) Develop an internal faculty pool from within your senior and experienced employees; you can even consider reaching out to retired employees if they are competent.
3) Create a detailed training budget and get it approved.
4) Schedule training for a maximum of one to two hours, preferably soon after the lunch break.
5) Constantly update management on the return on investment (ROI) of training, such as reductions in quality issues, grievances, etc. Always aim to present the post and after training scenarios in a quantifiable manner.

Additionally, ensure that training is conducted in a holistic manner. Remember, training is a continuous process, and it is your responsibility to convince management about the importance of training.
