Dear borntosin,
What's the problem with you? If your company does not follow the safety rules and regulations, you should implement the same. Instead of this, kindly avoid making these kinds of unwanted comments.
According to safety rules, near misses are to be recorded and acted upon accordingly. This is followed strictly in professional companies that truly prioritize safety. I come from that culture, and I cannot tolerate your idiotic comments. If you are in India, I do accept that these may be considered useless, as Indian companies do not prioritize spending on safety due to their financial situation and are more focused on earning profits.
A question for you - why have you not taken any steps to change this situation? If you are a safety professional, what is your role in changing this scenario? Make efforts to improve the safety culture. Please do not comment like this and demotivate real safety professionals. We know how much effort we put in to enhance safety culture as we are always under pressure.
Dear Sudipta,
It's not necessary for a company to have OHSAS. It is based on the mentality of the people and how they want to work. If they choose to work in a proper systematic manner, then everyone will understand what needs to be done in a safe manner. It's more about common sense and the working culture.
In Gulf countries, the US, Singapore, etc., safety is a must. Are all industries in these countries OHSAS certified? It's part of their culture, which may also be influenced by their strict rules and regulations.
Dear Sukhdeep,
The purpose of recording near-miss reports is to act on what has happened and prevent the unsafe conditions/acts, as these near misses may lead to serious accidents. For examples, please provide me with your email ID, and I will email you in detail later.
Thanks and regards.
