hi,

medical reimbursement may or may not be compulsory depending on national and company policies.

1. where the nation or state has a policy for medical treatment for the people (such as health insurance schemes), then the company can willingly choose to additionally provide for the medical facility for its workers. where this is done, then the company has to abide by the specific provisions of its medical policy i.e., where all conditions for the enjoyment of the company's medical facility are satisfied by the employee. otherwise, the employees will have to benefit from the national or state medical facilities only and the company should encourage its employees to register to enjoy from the national or state medical facilities.

2. where there are no medical facilities in the company, then, the company is not obliged to honour medical reimbursements.

3. situations arise where medical reimbursement goes beyond company medical facilities i.e. situations of workmen's compensation may arise where the employee claims medical reimbursement due to suffering occupational hazards. Please refer to the workmen's compensation law or other relevant statutory provisions for this type of benefits.

hope this will help.

Hi,
Our organisation had made Medical Reimbursement as an essential and important component in the salary package. We may earn a lot and during emergency we may not even have a penny to spend. This is mainly to help the employee during emergency.
Apart from that we get tax benefits out of it. Atleast to save tax medical reimbursement is a must for any organisation.
Other details Mr Atawa has briefed.
