Applicable Laws For HR

I need to know what all HR related laws are applicable to a non manufacturing company (i.e. Company is in Trading business only). If any standard book or manual or website can be suggested covering basics of applicable laws.

If you indicate number of employees it is easy to give the list of laws applicable. I presume HR laws means laws applicable under statutory acts.

Subssistance allowance act,
Local Panchayath act (Corporation/Municipality/Village etc.)

The Statutes applicable for a firm with 20 or more employees will be PF & ESI. However, the other acts viz., minimum wages act, National and festival holidays is as per the discretion of the management.

Labour law is vast. Try to read as much Acts as possible. But for complicated situations, hire a lawyer.
You can also look for books by H L Kumar on labour laws. His books are very good for general people (non-legal background) and easy to understand.
