Do We Need to Register Temporary Project Offices Under the Shops and Establishment Act?

Pankaj Hirani
Dear all,

We are an engineering consultancy services company registered under the Delhi Shops and Establishment Act in New Delhi. We have our registered office at the same address. The company has established a few site offices at various projects across the nation. All these offices will last up to the completion of the project only. Sometimes, such projects continue for years, say 3-5 years.

Query Regarding Project Office Registration

My only query is: do we need to register our project office under the concerned Shops and Establishment Act? If yes, then kindly tell us the time limit within which we need to register. If no, can we display our Head Office registration at our project offices for reference purposes, or is it mandatory to have a registration certificate from the concerned Shops and Establishment Act?

Thank you.

Best wishes,
Pankaj Hirani

Not necessary to register under Shop Act, but you will definitely be under CLRA Act registration.

Dear Pankaj, yes, definitely, you need to register your work site under the relevant state shop Act within a stipulated time mentioned in the Acts, which is normally 30 days. It is not sufficient to display your Head Office Registration Certificate.
