Transforming a Semiconductor Company into a Learning Hub: Where Should I Start?

NIKKI_
Hi,

I am working in an organization that operates in the manufacturing sector. We specialize in semiconductors and are recognized as one of the significant players in global markets. I have been given an opportunity to initiate a change in the culture of the organization, where employees feel that the organization genuinely cares about them. I aim to invigorate this organization so that it is not just a place where people come to work.

Seventy percent of the employees fall between the ages of 20 and 24. I aspire to transform this organization into a learning organization. Please guide me on where I can begin and how I should plan for this change.

Thank you.

Hi Nikki,

First of all, I have to apologize for my bad English, but I'm not a native speaker. Nevertheless, I was faced with a similar problem, and I can tell you that there are many ways of approaching a learning organization. One of my approaches was to implement a team-building, which was initially guided and has now evolved into a learning team. In the next step, I cascaded the team-building down to the non-management level to ensure buy-in at every organizational level. For the team-building itself, I used classical team-building methods, for example, setting up an offsite workshop where the management had to arrange their food, plan carpooling, etc.

I hope this could give you an initial starting point.

Regards,
Joerg
