Understanding Doctor Requirements in Factories: What's the Minimum Qualification and Employee Threshold?

I am working in an industry based in Ahmedabad. I wanted to know, as per the Factories Act, what could be the minimum qualification of a doctor in an industry and at what minimum employee strength is the appointment of a doctor mandatory. Please help.

Hi Gunjan,

I am Amit Seth, working with an IT company in Ahmedabad. According to the Factories Act, the minimum qualification for a doctor is that he/she must be an MBBS. The minimum number of employees required should be 500.

However, if needed, you can arrange for an on-call doctor or a doctor who will visit the factory once or twice a week for regular check-ups of the employees.

Thank you for your reply. I have one confusion because I heard that as per industry requirements, the medical council provides a list of related courses. I am confident that in that list, MBBS and BAMS are mentioned, but I am not aware of other bachelor medical courses. If you have the list of those courses, please provide it to me.
