Hi,

How can I get tax exemption when the employer has not specifically provided any conveyance allowance for traveling from home to the workplace?

Sir,

My company is not showing any breakup for conveyance allowance in my salary. In this case, how can I get tax exemption for conveyance? My salary breakups are (Basic+DA+HRA+CCA) only.

Thank you.

If you don't have conveyance allowance in your salary breakup, to my knowledge, you cannot get exemption from Income Tax. For your information, we can claim Rs. 800 per month, which means Rs. 9600 per annum.

Dear Raja,

You can't claim tax exemption on conveyance if the same is not part of your monthly salary. It has to be reflected in your salary slip, and the limit is Rs 800 per month (maximum). This also means that the conveyance amount has to be paid as conveyance allowance through the payroll.

If you own a two-wheeler, Rs. 60,000/- per annum is exempted from tax towards fuel and maintenance. For a four-wheeler, the limit is Rs. 240,000/- per annum. If you avail tax exemption towards fuel and maintenance, you cannot claim tax exemption for a conveyance allowance of Rs. 800/- per month.

Please let me know if you need further clarification or assistance.

By providing the correct information and documentation, you can apply for the tax exemption for fuel and maintenance. Make sure to keep all relevant receipts and records as proof for submission to the income tax department.

I would like to ask under which section can we claim motor vehicle fuel and maintenance expenses? Can a person claim such an exemption when the vehicle is registered in the name of his father, and the registered owner of the vehicle (the father in this case) is not claiming such exemption but is only claiming an exemption of Rs. 800 per month for conveyance?

Thank you in advance.

I have a salary of Rs 300,000 (BP 78,000.00 + HRA 177,000.00 + CONVEYANCE 45,000.00). As far as I know, Rs 9,600/- is exempt from IT for conveyance. Separate LTC is not provided by the private institution. Hence, my question here is whether I can claim LTC exemption for the block of 2/4 years from the conveyance allowance amount. Please clarify.

If the LTC component is not given, you can't claim tax exemption towards LTC.

In my salary component, there is a flexi basket for fuel and a driver. However, I don't own any personal vehicle. How can I get a tax exemption for this?
