He is entitled for medical and cash benefit till the completion of benefit period concerned to the Contribution period, during which he has resigned.
Shortly till 9 months from the contribution period during which he resigned...

one more question,As soon as an employee joins whether he gets benefit from the ESI ?or he has to wait some period(3,6 or 9 months)

Dear Janaki,
The second he starts the work for wages in a covered Unit/Estt. the employee & his family will get the medical benefit.
But cash benefits will start after 9 months only if the Insured Person fulfill the terms and conditions related to such benefits...
