Fixed Term Contractual Employment

Dear Members,
Can you please provide me with legality of 'Fixed Term Contractual Employment', general pros and cons, caselaws, guidelines for its execution, practices by industries and any related information you feel relevant.
I have read about it in the Standing Orders Act. Schedule I - 2 (h).
Is there any mention of it in the Industrial Disputes Act?

there are two kind of fixed term contractual employement-
1 Directly employed by the establishment as temparary employee or contractual employee for fixed term.
2 Fixed term contractual employees employed through a contractor( Contract Labour).
in case of second there a specific Act in this regard to regulate the serives of contract labour known as Contract Labour( Regulation & Abolition) Act 1970.
And those which are diretly employed in the establishment through fix terms agreements have same effect negative effect and can claim permanency and will be covered by Model Standing Order Act.
So about what kind of specific fixed term employement you want to know.

I am looking for emloyees directly employed by the establishment.
Please provide further information and practices.

I am one such employee.
Employed with lic of india for a fixed term of not more than 9 years subject to fulfillment of yearly benchmarks.
