Transitioning from Law to HR: What Steps Should I Take for a Successful Career Shift?

aks1786
Respected seniors,

I have completed LL.B. (Hons) and practiced as an advocate. Currently, I am pursuing an MBA. I am interested in exploring opportunities in the HR field. Could you please advise me on the available avenues and how I should proceed further? Your guidance would be highly appreciated.

I have attached my CV for your reference.

Thank you.

Your specialization in law will help you if you opt for PSUs because in India, it is only PSUs which follow Employee Relations and Labor Laws in a rigorous manner. Moreover, they may give your specialization some preference.

Thank you very much, ma'am, for your valuable suggestion! Please specify, considering my age (30), are there enough opportunities left open to me in PSUs?

With regards,
Akhil

Dear Akhil,

I don't think 30 years is too much of an age to apply for this. Go ahead and at least give it a good try. There are various exams for PSUs in the HR field. Sit for those. If you are really dedicated, go for it. You have many good options like NTPC, POWERGRID, SBI, UBI, BHEL, etc. Just keep yourself updated and be extremely thorough with labor laws.

Wish you all the best. Go ahead.
