Full & Final Settlement - Company Law

I would like to know the maximum time that a company can take to clear the full and final settlement as per law.
There was nothing mentioned in my appointment letter and I have not signed anything as well.

Hi...
A senior person has resigned from our office. He, in his letter has asked for the release of his full and final settlement.
Please advise what needs to be written since he asked for the clearance of those dues for which he is not liable.
